CATCH A DREAM!©
Many people are living that aren’t doing any thing meaningful or joyful with their lives. Many people
are working to make their living, but the work they do from day to day isn’t pleasant or soul-satisfying to them. It’s
not a fiery passion they pursue or a wonderful vision they live out. Some people actually enjoy the work they do, and that’s
good—for them; however, many aren’t enjoying what they do to earn their bread, but they do it anyway because it’s
their main source (if not their only source) of income.
If this describes you,
then what you need to do is catch a dream! This can be something you DESIRE IN YOUR HEART TO DO, that you’ll
love doing, and will be self-motivated to get out of bed everyday to do because of its soul-satisfying nature. Just take a
moment to think about the things you really enjoy doing or would like to do. As you think on these things, ask yourself things
like, “What am I good at doing?” “What am I gifted to do?” What areas do I seem to excel in?”
“What gives me pleasure to do?” “What is it that I can enjoy doing ever day and never get bored of doing?”
Catching a dream is a lot like catching a fish. Fish catchers (fishermen) know how to catch fish.
As a “dream catcher,” you must know how to catch a dream. Here are four spiritual tips to catching a dream:
1.
Locate the ideal place to “fish.” This is what fishers do. They know some fish are only found in
certain waters. So you must determine where to catch a dream. There are various spheres of interest in the world (or “fishing
ponds”). You must choose the one ideal for you.
2. Select appropriate "bait." Fishers must choose the right kind of bait to lure
fish. Similarly, you must choose the right kind of “bait” or gift (special ability) to attract job/business opportunities.
“A man’s GIFT maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men” (Prov.18:16). If your dream
is to own a restaurant, you wouldn’t use your gift to sing to seize an opportunity. You would use your special ability
of food preparation, organization, and management.
3. Cast your "reel." Once fishers have located the ideal place to fish and have
selected the appropriate bait, they shoot their hooks into the water, hoping to make a catch. Once you’ve determined
where to catch a dream and have the right gift for the desired dream, you must try to “catch” that dream. You
must go for it! Your “reel” is your “works” or actions united with your faith in God to bless you
with the “catch” or fulfillment of your dream. You begin stepping out in faith to walk out your vision. You go
from dreaming to doing!
4. Reel in the “fish.” When there’s a catch, the fisher has to reel in
the fish to avoid losing it. Similarly, when you’ve caught a dream (have actually gotten your hands on something you
love to do), you must “reel it in” to avoid losing it. In other words, you must secure it: you must do what’s
necessary to ensure it’s yours. Whatever you dream may be, you must secure it. If you don’t, you stand to lose
it. Just because you start a business doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll automatically keep it. You must take the
necessary steps to establishing and securing it. You can start a restaurant and then lose it—if you don’t secure
it. Once you’ve caught that dream, you must reel it in!
According to the gift of the grace of God, you can
be whatever you want to be. You can have whatever you want to have. You can accomplish whatever you want to accomplish. You
can reach whatever goal you want to reach. You can SUCCEED IN LIFE! Nothing is too hard for the Lord. Believe that and act
on it, counting Him faithful and taking Him as your Senior Partner in life. He won’t fail you! “Commit thy
way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he SHALL BRING IT TO PASS” (Ps.37:5).
